About Aftercare Report

Aftercare Report reads the day’s death care industry news so you do not have to. Each weekday an editor goes through filings, board notices, trade-press reporting and company announcements, picks what matters to a funeral home owner-operator, and writes it up in our own words. Every item says why it matters and links to whoever reported it first.

This is a trade publication for the people who run the business: funeral home owners, general managers, licensed staff and the groups that own or serve them. It is not written for grieving families, and it does not cover any individual death, funeral or memorial as news.

Every Monday morning the best of the week arrives in one email, The Aftercare Briefing. It is written for owner-operators, general managers, licensed staff and the consolidators, insurers and vendors that serve them.

Where we cover

Regulation, licensing and consolidation differ by province and state, and preneed rules differ again. Canada has its own section at /region/canada/, and every story says which side’s rules apply.

Who edits it

Aftercare Report is edited and published by Christopher Ross, a Canadian web practitioner based in Fort Erie, Ontario, who runs thisismyurl.com. The editor is accountable for what runs here.

How it works

We use software to help read and sort the day’s news and to check drafts against their sources. Every story is checked against its sources and against our written standards before it is published, and the checks it has to pass depend on what kind of story it is. We do not publish unchecked machine output.
